Getting ready for a monster tour around the country later this month, The Smith Street Band have announced a surprise new digital/7″ single. Wonderfully titled, ‘Wipe That Shit-Eating Grin Off Your Punchable Face’, the new track is a scathing attack on the Australian government’s current treatment of asylum seekers, featuring Shaun Thatcher’s appropriately cringeworthy painting of everyone’s current favourite PM on the cover. On the flipside is another new song (because the Smith Street boys love to spoil us), ‘God in the Name of Father’, recorded along with the main single in Forrest, Victoria during the Throw Me In The River sessions.

The band and their label Poison City Records will donate 100% of digital sales until the end of February, and a large part of 7″ sales (including 100% of all profits from records sold at the Corner Hotel on Australia Day) to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Both new tracks are available digitally from 9am January 13th. Wipe That Shit-Eating Grin Off Your Punchable Face 7″ is out officially January 23rd with pre-orders available now through Poison City.

The Smith Street Band embark on their epic 26-date Get High, See Everyone tour at the end of January with tickets available from their website.
