Sufjan Stevens is up there with Nick Drake or Elliot Smith as a virtuoso in heart-wrenching folksy tunes that end up making you feel empty inside if you listen to a whole album. It’s for this reason that almost every album that Stevens has released is now revered as a classic, and folks are masochistic enough to see a set and presumably fall into each other sobbing afterwards. Enough of these folk have gathered that Stevens’ Sydney show at the State Theatre has now just joined two of his Melbourne dates in selling out. Just in time to coincide with this, Sufjan Stevens has also announced his national tour support, the just as cripplingly emotive soulstress Ngaiire. Despite the expected heartbreak, a team up of these two masters is promise enough of a brilliant show. Just check the dates below to make sure your city’s hasn’t sold out yet.
