We already know 2015 is going to be a good year for Melbourne, for music and for us here at What Sound. We’re going to try a few new things and one of those is that instead of letting you know our (sometimes) weekly What Gig, we’re introducing our Recommended Residency.

Each month we’re going to look around the various Melbourne venues hosting residencies and select one that we think you should try and check out.

What Sound favourites Dear Plastic are kicking off their year with a residency at The Gasometer, returning after their successful album launch in October and we can’t think of a better way to spend our Thursday nights in January than by having some beers with them, hopefully with the roof open.

Two artists will be joining them for each of the four nights, and they certainly have assembled a fantastic lineup for the whole month. The first night is the 8th and DXHeaven and Yes/No/Maybe will be joining them for that, Mayfair Kytes and Tanzer will support on the 15th and Sleep Decade and Beloved Elk will be opening up on the 22nd and the 29th will be a big one, with The Infants and Kalacoma bringing their immense talents along for the the final night of what we think will be a great residency.

Tickets are $8 on the door.
