Elizabeth Rose joins us for the third of our special Melbourne Music Week edition of Five by Five where we catch up with some of the artists featuring at this year’s event in the days leading up to the launch.

Please introduce yourself.

Elizabeth, aka Elizabeth rose..from Sydney, my style of music is quirky pop / electronic/ dance, and I sing, play keys, produce & DJ.

What are your feels about MMW?

I’ve never been to MMW but I’m very excited about the show! Looking forward to singing one of my favourite Tina Arena songs & seeing some live performances from other incredibly talented women.

Who else will you be checking out at MMW?

I want to go see the house of beige showcase, big fan of Remi & Sensible J and keen to checkout the other artists on the roster.

Who is currently your favourite Melbourne based artist?

Christopher Port – his production is really fresh and exciting.

What can you tell us about your latest LP?

I released my debut album earlier this year called Intra and it’s all about me really exploring my thoughts and views on a lot of things I’ve never spoken  about in song form before. The latest single called In 3’s is about my strong intuition that I’ve always had throughout my life & how I use it to direct me through situations.

6.What is your greatest live music experience?

The greatest experience I have ever had musically as a punter is seeing The Chemical Brothers back in 2008. It really blew me away, I’ve been a fan of their music for years and seeing them perform their tracks live with hardware and phenomenal visuals set the bar for where I wanna take my show eventually.

What is the most recent album your bought and why?

The most recent album I’ve bought is Collapse by Seiho. I came across it when I was in Tokyo earlier this year and it’s super impressive. He’s a Japanese producer from Osaka and it’s sample based – it’s like candy to my producer ears 😉

You can go to any fictional place for a day. Where would it be and what is the first thing you do?

I would go to the Charlie & the chocolate Factory (the 1970’s factory film set) and drink the soft drink that makes you float!

Elizabeth Rose will perform at Opening Night: Her Show Her Story this Friday 11th of November.
